World’s Greatest Spammer Caught
Robert Soloway, 27, was arrested yesterday on counts of mail fraud, wire fraud, e-mail fraud, identity theft and money laundering.
Through his Company “Newport Internet Marketing”, Soloway offers an adveritising service of emailing 20 million email advertisements in 15 days for $500.
Emails were sent from Zombie (infected) Computers since 2003. Emails included the headers of MSN and Hotmail addresses. This later lead to a court case in 2005 and Soloway paying Microsoft $7 million in damages.
Prosecutors are looking for a $773,000 fine from the court. With Soloway’s 4 bank accounts seized by the US goverment, he will still have no trouble paying his lawyer.
